Recently a friend told me that they purchase milk in bottles that can then be returned and a deposit refunded. I hadn't taken much notice of the "Elgaar milk" in the shop fridge before but having thought about it a bit I decided it was worth a bit of extra cost for re-using instead of recycling as well as being able to get away from toxic plastic and have an organic product. I feel even more strongly about this after hearing Ian Darling, who is in charge of waste for Kingborough, talk about how recyclables are flown overseas for processing.
